I started writing down all the amazing things I’ve done at Or Ami over the past 12 years and quickly realized there are too many to mention.
Through the Village, I’ve built an incredible community of friends. I’ve been involved since its inception and have served on both the program and steering committees.
I’ve participated in a movie group, a museum group, and a canasta group. I even learned how to knit again and taught a “make your own mezuzah” class. There have also been so many incredible lectures, classes, and programs. With Rabbi Lana, I’ve taken part in Rosh Chodesh, studied the Book of Job, explored the Women’s Mikvah, and engaged in meaningful conversations on Israel and so much more.
Even before we became members, we started attending Friday night Shabbat services and immediately felt so welcomed. At the time, my husband was ill and in the hospital, and Rabbi Paul reached out to see how he was doing. I was so touched by that kindness and knew this synagogue was where we belonged.
And through it all, from everyday moments to the High Holidays and Friday night Shabbats, Or Ami has been a meaningful and constant part of my life. - Jill Citron
