Isabella’s Bat Mitzvah project was a fundraiser and toy drive for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. When Isabella was waiting to be brought in for surgery at CHLA in 2024, she received sensory toys to calm her down. It really made a big difference in her experience there and ever since, she wanted to give back.
Isabella created an Amazon list of toys and art supplies that CHLA requests for donations, including items for all different ages. Then she created a poster with a QR code that directly linked to that list. She chose a popular location in a local park and held a bake sale of goodies she had baked herself and placed her sign in front of the table. Visitors could donate a toy to receive a baked good, or simply contribute cash. Isabella raised over $1300 in cash, and 50 toys were donated. Isabella had the pleasure of bringing the donations to a representative at the hospital. The staff was deeply moved by her efforts and assured her that many kids would benefit from these donations!
