Tewksbury Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 3 lb green apples
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • cognac
  • ¼ lb sweet butter
  • ¾ c brown sugar
  • ¼ c granulated sugar
  • ¾ c flour

Directions

  1. Peel and core the apples.

  2. Cut the apples into thick slices and immediately arrange them in a buttered ovenproof dish.

  3. Sprinkle with the lemon juice and pour cognac to cover.

  4. Cream together the remaining ingredients and spread the mixture over the apples.

  5. Bake for one hour at 350 and serve hot. Makes 6 or more servings.
