Rhona Feldman Chaver l’Chaver (Friend to Friend) Fund
Helps ensure that people in need connect with the light of Or Ami so that they can heal and work through their personal and spiritual struggles. Rhona Feldman, a founding member of our congregation, would warmly welcome congregants who entered our synagogue, thus ensuring that everyone felt welcomed.

Judith Berman Music Fund
Underwrites musical programs, Chorale concerts, Music of Or Ami events, and chorale conductor for the synagogue. Judith Berman, Or Ami’s founding Chorale Director, taught that “if you bring me the body, I’ll give you the voice.”

Brandon Kaplan Honorary Special Needs Fund
Offers dedicated specialized assistance from trained educators, teachers, shadows, facilitators, and aides, creates dedicated programs designed for children and families, ensures greater interaction between special needs children and their families and able-bodied children and their families, and develops publicity and scholarships to increase participation of children with special needs. Brandon Kaplan, who cannot read or write, inspired us all when he became a Bar Mitzvah at Or Ami in May, 2007.

Madraygot (12 Step) Program Fund
Provides for training of a rabbinic intern to offer drug and alcohol addiction prevention education and counseling for grades 4 through 12, creates tools for parents through an online resource, and develops Jewish 12 Step support groups.

Henaynu Caring Community Fund
We pride ourselves on being a caring community which responds Henaynu, “we are here”, when people need us. This fund helps the Congregation reach out and support congregants and their loved ones as they struggle during difficult time and celebrate during joyous times.

Phyllis Pucker Adult B’nai Mitzvah Fund
Provides “graduation gifts” to adult B’nai Mitzvah students and provides scholarship assistance to members who want to become B’nai Mitzvah as adults. Phyllis Pucker uplifted us all when, struggling with cancer, she became a Bat Mitzvah as an adult.

Randi Kaye Cancer Awareness and Education Fund
Educates congregants and the community regarding cancer prevention and treatment, and provides support for families struggling with cancer. Randi Kaye, who fought a valiant fight against her cancer, taught us that through education and awareness about cancer, we can help ease pain of those who are struggling.

Noah Shulman Library Fund
Supports learning through the acquisition of new books for our Or Ami library.

Youth Scholarships Fund
Supports youth programs of Congregation Or Ami, provides leadership training, models Jewish values, instills communal responsibility, and ensures a positive, safe and supportive social experience for Jewish children ages 7 – 17. Supported programs include LoMPTY senior youth group, NFTY regional event scholarships and Temple Teen Night.

High Holy Day Appeal
Annual appeal for tzedakah to continue our special kind of creative Jewish learning, communal caring and inspiring spirituality.

Adopt a Child Abuse Caseworker Fund
Supports our extensive social action programming to support children in the foster care system, and children healing from neglect and abuse. Programs include the Mervyn's Childspree, Mitzvah Day and Prom Prep 101.

Dedicate our New Prayerbooks In Honor or Memory of Loved Ones  

Or Ami’s new hardcover Mishkan Tefillah siddurim (prayerbooks) have arrived. We will dedicate them at our Chanukah Family Service on Friday, December 7th at 6:30 pm. Each individual/family which dedicates a siddur will participate in this special ceremony. To participate in the Chanukah Ceremony, the dedication form and your payment must be received no later than Monday, December 3rd.

A handsome personalized dedicatory plaque will be affixed to the inside front cover of each dedicated volume.
